In 1981, the late Ayatollah Imam Ruhollah Khomeini declared the last Friday of the Islamic fasting month of Ramzan as 'Al-Quds Day,' a day of protest to show the importance of Bait-ul-Maqdas to Muslims and to defend the cause Palestinian Muslims. Al-Quds Day celebrated jointly by Shiite and Sunni Muslims through out the World. The protestors chanted slogans against America and its Front-Line States and rejected the occupier state of Israel.
